So to clarify, if Bill owns a C172S and asks me (I never approached him) to fly him and his wife down to Key West (EX: he will pay me $2500 for a round-trip flight, pay for a one night stay in a hotel, give me a $50 per-deim for the night, cover all fuel & FBO fees, Uber/Taxi fees ETC…. I know this an exaggeration, but wanted to drive the point home for complete understanding.) this is legal? Can he call on me anytime? Do I need a contract? Does the FAA need to know?

If this is totally ok, would this fall under a 1099 independent contractor I would need claim on my taxes? What about Bill’s tax reporting obligations since he “hired me” for the trip?

    Thanks
