In the video, you asked about turning lights on without radio at 2 am. What was the solution?

If you want to turn the lights on at 2am, you could call on your cell phone to a Briefer, ask for a phone patch to center, and have center use any airliner overhead within 100 miles to click the lights on for you….
It’s a REALLY far out of the box answer…. Can you think up any others???

How about investing in a good transceiver and require yourself to carry it on ALL night flights (If not every flight just in case)? Its worth a shot.

You mentioned, “can we do this checkride tonight without a landing light?”. 91.205 only requires it to be operational “for hire”. Let’s say it was placarded inop and a maintenance log notation was made per 91.213. Is a DPE technically operating “for hire” and therefore you would need the landing light to work? Kind of a ‘gotcha’ question but it had me wondering…
    Thanks,
