About the Company

FLY8MA offers both online and in-person flight training.  We are currently building our Alaskan Pilot Lodge in Big Lake, Alaska.  When complete, the Pilot Lodge will have 24 bed spaces, 12,000sqft of hangar space, and a DC6, DC9, and 727 converted into housing.  We currently operate on a 1,200′ gravel runway and will be building a 2,000′ gravel runway summer of 2023.

We focus primarily on top quality off airport and mountain flying instruction, but do also offer primary flight training in a J-3 cub and Cessna 172.

Typical work day

This is a “work hard, play hard” place to work. If you have ever worked service industry or worked at an Alaskan Lodge previously you will likely have a good understanding. During the summer season days can be long and breaks short. The summer season is short in Alaska, and that is when we are busiest with construction, training, and guests on property. Winter hours are much more typical with a regular 4-5 day work week and 40hrs per week.

Things to do in the area

Alaska offers the best wilderness and scenery in the world, and it is right out our backdoor. There are endless hikes, trails, and places explore within short drives or short flights from the Lodge.
In the summer days are long and there is always time to go hiking at 11pm and watch the sunset, go fishing, or go camping.
In the winter there is plenty of opportunities for ice skating, ice fishing, skiing, cross-country skiing, snow-machining, etc.
